How Much Does Pipe Relining Cost on the Central Coast? (2026 Pricing Guide)

Pipe relining costs on the Central Coast in 2026 range from $1,800 for a single point repair to $12,000+ for a full residential sewer reline, with the average job for a 1970s Central Coast home coming in at $5,500–$7,000.

This guide gives you real numbers — not vague ranges — so you can budget, compare quotes, and understand what you’re actually paying for.

What Drives Pipe Relining Costs

1. Pipe Length

Relining is priced per metre after the setup/minimum charge. The setup charge covers the mobilisation to site, the CCTV inspection, the high-pressure jetting, and the first metre of liner. After that, each additional metre adds to the per-metre rate.

Example calculation:

  • Setup/first metre: $2,750
  • Additional 11 metres at $600/m: $6,600
  • Total for 12-metre sewer reline: $9,350

2. Pipe Diameter

Residential sewer pipes are typically 100mm diameter — the standard rate in the table above. Larger-diameter pipes (150mm commercial, 225mm or 300mm stormwater mains) require wider liners that cost more per metre to produce and install.

DiameterRelative Cost
50–75mm (branch drains)Slightly less per metre
100mm (standard residential sewer)Base rate
150mm (larger residential or light commercial)+20–30% per metre
225mm+ (commercial, stormwater mains)Priced separately — contact us

3. Access Complexity

The standard scenario: existing cleanout at the boundary, floor waste or cleanout at the house end. Two access points, no additional holes required. This is the standard price.

Additional access requirements that add cost:

  • No existing cleanout at the boundary (need to make one)
  • Access through a subfloor crawl space
  • Pipe entering below a concrete slab at both ends
  • Long haul from nearest access point to the pipe entry

4. Number of Junctions

Each lateral junction (branch line connection) that is covered by the main liner needs to be reopened by a robotic cutter after cure. Most residential jobs have 2–4 junctions (toilet branch, laundry branch, kitchen branch, second bathroom if present). Robotic junction reinstatement is typically included in the job cost, but very complex junction configurations add time and cost.

5. Liner Type

  • Felt liner with epoxy resin: Standard specification, suitable for most residential sewer relining. Cost-effective, 50-year warranty.
  • Glass-fibre liner: Used for larger diameters or where higher structural loads are required (under roadways, heavier vehicles). More expensive.
  • Silicate/blended liner: Specific applications. More expensive.

For standard Central Coast residential work, felt liner with epoxy is the appropriate specification.

6. Cure Method

  • UV cure: Fastest cure (30–90 minutes), consistent result, slightly higher liner cost.
  • Steam cure: Effective, used where UV isn’t suitable.
  • Ambient cure: Slowest, used as backup. Adds time to the job but not necessarily cost.

7. Pre-Work Jetting Complexity

Standard jetting: $300–$500. Root mass that requires extended cutting nozzle time: adds 30–60 minutes and $100–$200. Severely grease-loaded commercial pipe: additional jetting cost.

Worked Example: A 1972 South Gosford Brick Home

  • Property: 3-bedroom brick veneer, single bathroom, laundry, 1972 construction
  • Sewer pipe: 100mm terracotta, 12 metres from bathroom stack to boundary cleanout
  • Findings: Root intrusion at 3 joints, one cracked section, all within the 12m run
  • Access: Cleanout at boundary, floor waste at bathroom end

Job cost breakdown:

ItemCost
CCTV inspectionIncluded (credited against reline)
Setup/mobilisation + jetting + first metre$2,800
Additional 11 metres @ $620/m$6,820
3 junction robotic reinstatementsIncluded
Post-cure CCTV inspectionIncluded
Total$9,620

Compare to dig-and-replace: Excavation (12m), pipe supply and lay, concrete reinstatement (driveway + path, ~20m²), reinstatement of garden: $16,000–$22,000.

Worked Example: Terrigal Pre-Purchase CCTV with Point Repair

  • Property: 1978 Terrigal home, $1.6M purchase price
  • Request: Pre-purchase CCTV inspection
  • Findings: Single joint displacement under driveway, 15mm offset with minor root entry. Rest of pipe in acceptable condition.

Job cost:

ItemCost
CCTV inspection + pre-purchase report$380
Point repair (patch at displacement, 600mm)$2,650
Post-cure CCTVIncluded
Total$3,030

Buyer requested vendor contribution of $3,000 to purchase price based on the CCTV report. Vendor agreed. Net cost to buyer: inspection cost only.

What’s NOT Included in Pipe Relining Quotes

Always confirm what your quote includes. Items that may be additional:

  • After-hours or weekend call-out premiums
  • Access hole reinstatement if one is needed
  • Stormwater inspection if quoted separately from sewer
  • Additional jetting if the pipe is extremely blocked on arrival
  • Council permits (if applicable — generally not required for private pipe work)

Pipe Relining Cost FAQs

Q: Can I get a price over the phone? Yes, as a rough guide. For a 1970s Central Coast home with a standard 10–15m sewer run, budget $5,500–$9,000 for a full reline. A firm quote requires a CCTV inspection.

Q: Why do some quotes come in much lower? Check what’s included: is CCTV included? What liner specification? What warranty? Some lower quotes use inferior liner products, do not include post-cure CCTV, or are for a shorter pipe length than actually needs to be relined.

Q: Is there GST on top of these prices? All prices on this page are inclusive of GST.
